Salon Expansion

Hey guys! so when quarantine hit back in march, we got closed for 2.5 months...during this time my neighbor wanted out and gave me the opportunity to take over the space. I had been wanting this space for over 3 years.. so as soon as she said do you want it? I coluldnt say YES fast enough!

The two spaces are directly next to each other, which made for taking down a wall relatively easy. So we took down a wall and almost tripled our space. I love renovations, I live for the smell of new construction, and fresh paint.

This was the new side, and the beginning of the wall coming down. We did hit a minor bump in the road..you see that green in the wall? well...thats a concrete block that wasn't coming out. I was kinda bummed that I couldn't open the wall as much as I intended to do.. however we went back to the drawing board, and that's where I realized I would build the front desk into this corner! Which, honestly worked out so well. I love that when customers walk in the first thing they are greeted by our front desk.

Now the wall is completely gone!

So, as you can see.. they blocked off the existing salon with sheets of plastic to prevent too much dust getting everywhere. (although it got everywhere) lol

At this point with moving the front desk to its new location, i knew that i was going to use our new entrance as our main door, and close off our old entrance, and use that as the new waiting area.

I almost forgot to show you how awful the before was. Walls, ceiling, trim, and doors were all painted GOLD! I like gold..but not like this! lol

We quickly bought a sprayer, and painted EVERYTHING bright white! ahhh what a transformation just paint did!

My Father in law custom made the front desk, and the large island station. I ran to a bunch of lumber yards here in CT, and bought 6, 14' rough cut slabs of black walnut. Then he made the magic happen by, planing the wood, sanding, biscuits, gluing, coating, and lastly installing. If you've done any research on a 12'x5' live edge table, they are not cheap! so thankfully by having my father in law do all the work made the cost much more reasonable! All of the live edge is my most favorite part of the salon!

I truly love to flip spaces, I grew up flipping houses with my parents since I was 2 years old! which is why I became an Interior Designer, I literally live for the transformation!

Let me show you a little bit of the before and afters!
